preparing for your first session

Starting therapy can be a little scary, especially if you've never done therapy before! The goal of the first session is to get to know each other and start coming up with ideas about what we will be working on in therapy and how we will be working on it. I will be asking questions about your current experience, and I may also ask questions about your past so that I can better understand your current experience in a bigger context. I would encourage you to ask questions also, so that you can make sure this feels like a good fit for you. It may be helpful to think about what you feel like you need to address in therapy and what you want to accomplish through therapy. It may also be helpful to think about what you need from me in order to fulfill your goals, and also what you are willing and able to do outside of therapy. These are all things we can discuss in the first session, and they will help me provide a therapeutic experience that best meets your specific needs.
